Well, it seems Spring is just around the corner. It's likely you've seen the daffodils and other bulbs starting to flower, you'll have seen the colourful blossoms starting to appear on the trees and, no doubt, you've noticed the days are starting - ever so slowly - to get longer. It all means summer is just around the corner!
It also means that your a/c is likely to need its Spring service as well. There's a good chance your condensing unit - the outdoor unit, in other words - has a fair amount of leaf debris and perhaps even vines or moss build-up around it and this can seriously impact its performance.
There's also a good chance that you'll have some bacteria build-up on the evaporator coil of your indoor unit and this can cause some unpleasant smells. Many people comment that this smell is like an ammonia or a urine-like odour and, whilst it's not dangerous, it can be quite unpleasant. It's most noticeable as you change from cooling to heating, or vice versa, and with the cooling season around the corner, there will be many of you who might be affected by this. The good news is that this is very easily treated; we apply a biocide to evaporator coils as part of our servicing and then apply a deodouriser application afterwards which leaves the unit nice and fresh smelling.
Of course, a service will include more checks on your system to ensure its running smoothly and is ready to face the coming warmer months. Get in touch today and we'll ensure your unit is fighting fit and ready for whatever the summer months throw at us!
